HyPNOSIS
Hypnosis has been proven to empower one to create positive changes in life by breaking habits and repetitive behaviors such as smoking, nail biting, insomnia, reducing stress and anxiety, controlling pain, improving sleep, and increasing confidence and performance. Hypnosis is an induction of a state of consciousness. It is a process of active imagination and bypasses the critical faculty to accept suggestions from the hypnotherapist. It has the intention to work with the Unconscious Mind to cause trance so that there is conscious and unconscious integration. Under hypnosis, you can expect to feel deep relaxation, focused concentration, and in control while in trance.
My Self-Hypnosis Birth Story
Growing up I have never been the first to want to get married or have kids. I guess it’s true what they say, “Never say NEVER!” When I first got pregnant, I felt all sorts of confusion about how this birth experience was going to be. Was I going to just do what is recommended by the hospital? Get an epidural? Have a cesarean delivery? I really did not know what was best for me and my baby at that time. As I did some research, I listened to several audiobooks about an unmedicated birth and watched a few relevant birth stories on YouTube. Wow! I was inspired and intrigued. The power of the mind! So I was out on a search on how I can actually do this and found hypnobirthing. I ended up mixing a few modalities and made sure I programmed my brain on a daily basis to achieve my desired outcome. Then at 37 weeks, my baby decided to come early. This was my first pregnancy and I underestimated the birthing experience. Yes, I felt everything. Yes, I was trying the ‘breathing’, yet I screamed instead. Yes, I wanted to give up and ask for the epidural. I was so close to giving up. Then I heard this voice in my head reminded me of my desired outcome. It was my own voice as a response of the preparation I had worked on weeks before I delivered. My conscious mind defaulted to my unconscious mind and my unconscious mind was already programmed by me! That put me back on track! While I was having that moment to myself, the doctor came and said if the baby doesn’t come out soon we’re going to do a c-section. Then the doctor came back again and suggested an alternative unnatural way to easily push the baby through. Now those were big motivators to push harder! I finally decided, Ok COME OUT BABY! So Yes, my manifestation of an unmedicated birth experience was a success! Just reflecting on that moment, it was interesting how my mind was working because not only was I reciting what I had programmed my unconscious mind, yet in that moment I still had secondary gain. I deep down knew I was not pushing to my fullest because I was afraid of the pain and tear. It was only when I had to choose either to let the doctor do it or choose to be in charge of myself. I chose to be in charge of my own results and that was when I finally surrendered to the full experience.
